WW2 US passport with a surprise inside.

1943 consular South American issue.

A few years ago, I gave this passport to another collector but was able to locate it and have it returned back to my private archive of old documents and papers.

Originally when I got this passport years ago I was surprised to find inside very important signatures.

The passport, besides being an important war issue with extensive additional added pages inside, has three signatures of famed US diplomat Hiram Bingham IV who while being posted to occupied France at Marseilles, issued life saving documents that managed to save thousands of refugees and Jews from death had they remained in Vichy France.

He was awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem, Jerusalem.
