German Diplomatic passport
1957 Federal Republic Diplomatenpass.
Superb post-war 2nd version of the German Diplomatic passport, with the first one most likely appearing in mid 1955, being issued to the German president Theodor Heuss on August 8th 1955, passport number 1, and the version that replaced the earlier samples that where printed around 1950.
Diplomatic German passport numbered G 3478 was issued to the wife of German “Gesandschaftsrat 1.KL” Hans Georg Steltzer who apparently was moving from place to place during his service, as we can learn from his wife’s passport: Diplomatic visas for Egypt, India, Nepal and Yugoslavia; visas dating from 1957 to 1960.
This travel document is an attractive early West German passport, issued only 2 years after they began to appear and at the beginning of the Cold War. To date, not many have surfaced and is considered a rarity, and a 60 year old treasure.
